*Additional time required outside of specified courses:

  • 45+ clock hours of field observations in contents
  • Perot Museum Partnership
  • Case study
  • 16 weeks student/clinical teaching experience
When to apply? N/A N/A Must apply and be admitted to the Emerging Teacher Institute (ETI) the long semester (Fall or Spring) prior to enrolling.
For example:
  • If you plan to enroll in these courses Summer or Fall, you must apply by April 1st the semester prior.
  • If you plan to enroll in these courses Spring, you must apply by November 1st the semester prior.
Must attend mandatory application meeting and apply the long semester (Fall or Spring) prior to enrolling in residency.
For example:
  • If you plan to begin the residency in Fall, you must attend the scheduled mandatory application meeting the previous Spring.
  • If you plan to begin the residency in Spring, you must attend the scheduled mandatory application meeting the previous Fall.
Requirements? N/A Declare Interdisciplinary Studies as the major. Some courses may have prerequisites.
  • Have 60 credit hours completed
  • Have a C or higher in all degree coursework.
  •  Be core complete with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
  • Have a minimum 2.75 overall true GPA including all courses transfer and UNTD.
  • Submit Faculty Recommendation.
  • Submit Professional Reference.
  • Submit admission essay.
  • Be TSI complete or exempt.

  • Already admitted to ETI.
  • All core, major and pedagogy courses completed.
  • Have a minimum 2.75 GPA in core, major (content) and pedagogy courses.
  • Attend mandatory application meeting.
  • Attend mandatory Student Teacher Orientation.
  • Attend mandatory Professional Development Day.

Deadlines? N/A N/A If you plan to take the courses Summer 2017 or Fall 2017, you will need to be admitted to ETI between 2/1/17 and 5/1/17. If you plan to begin the residency in Fall 2017, you will need to apply 3/13/17.
